PLAQUE PSORIASIS
Autoimmune Skin Condition
Multiple Spots
Plaques will often start as individual spots that then combine. Plaques most often will appear around the scalp, lower back, and around the folds of the elbows and the knees.
Itching and Sore
An unregulated build up of dead skin cells will result in red raised patches of skin. These will develop layers of loose skin cells called scaling, which will then peel and flake off.
Silvery Sheen
Skin with dense melanin will make the plaques appear brown or pale purple, with shiny grey raised sections. Because of this sheen, they will appear lighter than the surrounding skin.
Grows Thicker
Irritation can occur from stress, injury, infection, or alcohol and tobacco use.
Always monitor any changes in texture.
